Redeemed Music - Who We Are

Home

I (Stan) am professionally an engineer, but have been a musician practically all my life. My parents were classical musicians and saw to it that I learned an instrument (clarinet) in school. I learned saxophone, guitar, and bass guitar in high school and college. I chose an engineering career to express my creativity that way, and to pay the bills. But I've always enjoyed music in many forms.

I've also been a Christian practically all my life. I was raised in a Christian home by caring parents who saw to it that I was well trained in the Bible and the teachings of Christ. It wasn't until much later, though, that I began to understand the finer points of grace and Spiritual living -- what it means to really follow Christ. I'm still learning.

I didn't mix my musical talents and my faith much beyond singing with the congregation until well into my adult years. I discovered only recently that God has given me a gift to write music. This act of creation is part of what it means to me to be "in His image." My marriage to Carolyn, another big part of His image, is the catalyst that helped bring out my gift. Her love and her voice in my life keep propelling me onward. We have two wonderful children, Daniel and Renée, who light up our hearts.

Carolyn is more the professional artist of the family. She obtained a degree in Theatre Arts at Pepperdine, and teaches theatre and tap dance. She sings wonderfully and writes some awesome music and poetry. Her songs tend to be more personal and solo-oriented, and not as much in the worship vein, so her writing isn't prominent on these pages. But, as we make more progress in our home recording studio, you'll hear a lot more of her voice. Hopefully much more than mine!

Both of us have been involved in worship leading at our local Church for many years. We like to experiment with music and try new things, and we don't mind making a few mistakes in the process. We love music that draws the whole congregation into the spirit of worship, forgetting who we are and who's up front, on stage or on mike, and remembering who made us. It's all about Him!
