COME TO ME
This is a reflective song, spoken in Jesus' voice, inviting all to join in his rest and comfort. The four-part harmonies should go well acapella or with accompaniment. In the key of Em, four verses.

GOOD THINGS
A song of comfort and hope. Many times it seems God is distant, uncaring, as we face trials we think no one should have to experience. In those times we must rely on the knowledge that God has good things in store for us beyond our wildest dreams, and his only request of us is to trust him and take him at his word. Good things come to those who wait on the Lord. This song starts out in B minor and transitions to a D major chord as it concludes, mirroring how our sadness turns to joy.

BEHOLD THE LAMB!
This was the first worship song that I finished. It happened in two hours one evening when I came home late from work and found that Carolyn and the kids had gone to a friend's house. Actually, I added the 2nd and 3rd verses five years later. It's a meditative song about the blood of Jesus and His gift to us at the cross, and our response. Most of Verse 1 is from Revelation. The melody is striking as it changes from Am to C major, and harmonies are rich.

HOW LONG?
This is record time for me - a song written, recorded, and posted on the website in one day! Happy Thanksgiving! This song is more funky and offbeat than some of our other stuff, and speaks of our longing to get out of this messy place and on to the "golden city" where we belong. In Em.

HERE I STAND
This is a Southern rocker, maybe partly a result of our recent move to South Carolina. It's about how we have nothing of our own to bring to the throne of our God, but He provides all we need. A great guitar song, with two verses and chorus, in D.

O THE DEPTHS
The text is the doxology of Romans 11:33-36. Every time I read this I thought it should be set to music. I finally did it. It's a short song, with simple, easy to sing and remember, melody, in D major.

DECLARATION OF DEPENDENCE
This is a jazzy, bluesy song in G. The chorus invites you to remember that the American spirit of independence isn't always consistent with the walk of faith. The text is II Cor. 4, in three verses. Good youth song. Fun horn parts, too. And, no, this is not the Steven Curtis Chapman version - I thought of it long before he did!

EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW
Indeed, it shall, and hopefully when that happens we'll all be together singing songs of joy and praise like this one. Up tempo and uplifting, in D. The text is from Philippians 2:5-11. With an optional descant part on the chorus.

O LORD ABOVE
This is a song about Pentecost, and the advent of Spiritual indwelling for which we give Him praise. It starts in Dm and transitions to F in the chorus. There are some good 4-part harmonies here.

HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL
I sometimes think there are too many sappy songs out there, and we need some that "tell it like it is." With the phrase, "He will put put His hook in your nose, and His bit in your mouth," this song might not fit every worship plan. But, it's got a catchy melody, and it's a good guitar song. The chords are easy, in C major. The text is loosely from 2 Kings 19, where Isaiah prophesies the fall of Sennacherib as he besieges Jerusalem. God is in control.

SING JOYFULLY
This song has a Middle Eastern flavor, and a wind instrument like a clarinet or an oboe would really have a ball with it. The little 16th note riff at the beginning and between verses is a must. Don't ask me what mode it's in. Text is Psalm 33. Listen to what you can do with only two chords - Gm7 and A!
BACK TO SONGS
COVER ME
The theme of this song is redemption and grace. It's at a moderate tempo and, in A major, it is uplifting, while recognizing that it's God who does the lifting, not ourselves. The second verse is a paraphrase of Psalm 23.

BY YOUR VOICE
A friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, gave me the words to this song. It speaks of the journey of faith, a walk empowered not by our strength but by His. A more contemplative song in Dm.
BACK TO SONGS
FOR THE CAUSE
This is more anthem-like, and with four part harmony can be sung acapella. The theme is standing up together for Jesus in spite of what the world says. I wrote this one night during a worship conference at which Darlene Zschech (composer of "Shout To The Lord") spoke about how we should never lose sight of why we do what we do. In the key of F, two verses and chorus.

WEARY TRAVELER
Upbeat and up-tempo, despite the title, this song is about the rest that awaits us in God's garden, the place that we were made for. In the key of D, this song doesn't really have a chorus: verse-verse-bridge-verse. Carolyn wrote the words and Stan the music.

FEED MY SHEEP
A contemplative call to compassion for those in need. Carolyn wrote the words and Stan the music. In Dm.
